# OneDrive

> Start flows from new OneDrive files, and read, upload, update, list, search, move, delete and share OneDrive files and folders

Use OneDrive to start a flow when a file lands in a folder, and to work with files and folders from inside a flow. This flow files every new invoice under **Invoices/2026** and creates a link your organisation can open. Press **Run** to watch it.

Node
Output in this run

Every trigger and node needs a OneDrive connection, signed in with OAuth or a service principal. See [Connect Microsoft 365](https://docs.noxus.ai/integrations/providers/microsoft.md) to set one up.

## Triggers

The trigger checks the folder every minute. Only files created directly in the folder after you save the trigger start a flow: files already there, files moved in, and files added to subfolders never do.

What it does

Pass `file_id` to the nodes below with **Source** set to **By ID**.

## Nodes

| Node | What it does |
| - | - |
| [Read OneDrive Files](#read-onedrive-files) | Downloads files, or every file in a folder |
| [Write OneDrive File](#write-onedrive-file) | Uploads a file to a folder |
| [Update OneDrive File](#update-onedrive-file) [From 1.11.0](https://docs.noxus.ai/core/changelog.md#1-11-0) | Replaces a file's content, keeping its ID and link |
| [List OneDrive Folder](#list-onedrive-folder) | Lists what is in a folder |
| [Search OneDrive Files](#search-onedrive-files) | Finds files by name or content |
| [Create OneDrive Folder](#create-onedrive-folder) | Creates a folder |
| [Move OneDrive File](#move-onedrive-file) [From 1.11.0](https://docs.noxus.ai/core/changelog.md#1-11-0) | Moves or renames a file or folder |
| [Delete OneDrive File](#delete-onedrive-file) | Moves a file or folder to the recycle bin |
| [Get OneDrive Metadata](#get-onedrive-metadata) | Gets a file's or folder's details |
| [Create OneDrive Sharing Link](#create-onedrive-sharing-link) [From 1.11.0](https://docs.noxus.ai/core/changelog.md#1-11-0) | Creates a link to a file or folder |
| [Share OneDrive File With People](#share-onedrive-file-with-people) [From 1.11.0](https://docs.noxus.ai/core/changelog.md#1-11-0) | Gives people access to a file or folder |

Most nodes point at a file or folder through **Source**: **Pick from OneDrive** to choose it in the editor, **By ID** to bind an ID such as `file_id`, or **By path** for a path from the root of your OneDrive, such as `Reports/2024/Q1/file.pdf`.

## Troubleshooting

> [accordion] A new file did not start the trigger
>
> Only files created directly in the watched folder after the trigger was saved start a flow. Files moved in from elsewhere, and files added to a subfolder, do not.

> [accordion] Couldn't read changes from OneDrive...
>
> OneDrive could not be read on this check. The trigger tries again on the next check, a minute later.

> [accordion] Couldn't download ...
>
> The trigger could not download the new file. If OneDrive was limiting requests or slow, it tries again. If the file was removed from OneDrive first, there is nothing left to download.

> [accordion] OneDrive rejected the connection...
>
> Reconnect OneDrive and run the flow again. See [Connect Microsoft 365](https://docs.noxus.ai/integrations/providers/microsoft.md).

> [accordion] The OneDrive connection doesn't have permission to do this with ...
>
> Uploading, updating, moving, deleting and sharing need write access. Reconnect OneDrive with **Read & write files**.

> [accordion] OneDrive couldn't find ...
>
> Check the ID or the path. A path starts at the root of your OneDrive, such as `Reports/2024/file.pdf`.

> [accordion] The path is empty
>
> A variable bound to the path or ID was empty when the node ran. Only Write, List and Create Folder accept an empty path, which means the root.

> [accordion] An item named ... already exists in the destination folder
>
> Give the item a **New name**, or move or delete the item that is already there.

> [accordion] A folder cannot be updated, choose a file
>
> Update OneDrive File replaces a file's content. Point it at a file, not a folder.

> [accordion] OneDrive refused to share this with anyone who has the link...
>
> Your organisation may not allow links that anyone can open. Set **Who can open** to **People in my organisation**, or reconnect OneDrive with write access.

> [accordion] Couldn't share with one or more of these people...
>
> Your organisation may not allow sharing with people outside it, or they may need to be added as a guest first.

> [accordion] These are not valid email addresses: ...
>
> Fix the listed addresses in **Email addresses**. Separate several addresses with commas.

> [accordion] OneDrive is limiting how many requests can be made...
>
> Wait a few minutes and run the flow again.
