A skill is a set of instructions, with any files it needs, that an agent loads when a task calls for it. Each skill has a name and usage conditions, which say when the agent should use it.

Using a skill in a chat

Type / in an agent’s chat to see the skills it offers: only the ones whose Users can pick it with / option is on in the skill editor. It is off by default, so an agent you deploy shows its users no skill names unless you choose to. Each row shows the skill’s command, what it is for and who wrote it. Keep typing to narrow the list, choose with the arrow keys, and press Enter or Tab to put the command in your message. Esc closes the list. A message that starts with a skill’s command, such as /invoice_totals check March, hands the agent that skill for the rest of the conversation, so it follows those instructions without having to decide to load them. Genie lists the Noxus building guides for workflows, agents, tables and knowledge bases as well as its own skills.

Pointing at a document

Type @ in an agent’s chat to list documents of its knowledge bases, narrowed as you type, and pick one: the agent opens it and cites it in its answer. The message shows the document’s name. Only knowledge bases whose Users can point at its documents with @ option is on are listed; it is off by default, and the list is never offered in a public chat.
