Tables store structured records in your workspace: typed columns and rows you manage like a spreadsheet, and query with SQL. Use them to keep reference data, collect flow output, or give an agent a source of truth to look things up in. Choose a table when you need exact, structured records (a customer list, an order log, a price sheet). Choose a Knowledge Base when you need to search the contents of documents.

Overview

  • Creating Tables: Create a table or import one from a CSV or Excel file.
  • Using Tables: Work with tables in the app, with SQL, and from flows, agents, Genie and the API.
  • Platform Tables: Query your workspace’s own data, such as flows, runs and agents.
  • Best Practices: Design, import, query and secure tables well.

Key concepts

  • Table: a named set of rows with a fixed set of columns.
  • Column: a typed field. Each column has a name (a free-text label) and an identifier (the name used in SQL).
  • Row: one record. Every row has an id primary key, either a UUID or an auto-incrementing number.
  • Identifier: the table’s SQL name, generated from its name when you create it. It never changes, even if you rename the table.
  • Custom: tables you create and edit yourself.
  • Platform: read-only views of your workspace’s own data, such as users, flows, runs and agents. See Platform Tables.

Properties

  • Workspace-scoped: tables belong to a workspace and are shared with everyone in it. Any flow, agent or member with the right role can use any of its tables.
  • Queryable with SQL: every table, including platform tables, can be queried and joined with SQL. Queries are read-only by default; writes are available in flows, agents and Genie. See SQL Queries.
  • Import-ready: bring in data from outside the platform by importing a CSV or Excel file, or by writing rows from flows, agents and the API. See Importing a table.
  • Categorizable: custom tables can be grouped with workspace tags.
  • Portable: tables travel with a flow when you export it with dependencies, and are recreated when it’s imported. See Exporting and importing flows.

Permissions

Access follows your workspace role:

Where you can use tables

In the app

Create tables, edit rows in a spreadsheet-style grid, search, and import or export files.

In flows

Get, insert, update, delete and export rows, or run SQL with the Query Table node.

From agents

Attach tables to an agent so it can answer questions from them, and optionally edit them.

Genie

Ask Genie to build a table, add columns, or change rows for you.

SDK

Create tables, manage columns and rows, and run SQL from Python.

REST API
